Dry skin is usually caused by weather changes, dehydration, poor diet, and health issues. Moisturizing your skin several times a day and especially after bathing will trap moisture into your skin. Make sure you are drinking at least 8, 8 ounce glasses of water every day. Try not to expose your skin to too much sun, wind or cold. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet which includes all of the five food groups, add avocados, fatty fish, sunflower seeds, sweet potatoes, broccoli and tomatoes to your diet. Bathe in warm water, not hot, don't use harsh or drying soaps, use a humidifier to put moisture in the air. Wear clothing made of natural fibers (except wool) to prevent chafing. Dry skin can be a sign of health issues. If you have severe dry skin which does not go away after hydrating, eating right and moisturizing, you should could consult your doctor because you may have an underlying health issue, such as diabetes, eczema, psoriasis. Your doctor can also refer you to a reputable dermatologist for extreme dry skin issues. One of the best skin creams I have ever used to soften and hold moisture in my skin is Lanolin and Lanolin based skin care products.
